Hey everyone!
I’m currently working on an advocacy project to make sure that 1 Million More people in Florida are covered by health insurance. Unfortunately, Florida legislators rejected Medicaid expansion in my state, so now we have to make sure these same legislators come up with a viable alternative plan. This petition was created as a way to let Florida legislators know that we are going to hold them accountable for their actions as it relates to healthcare in Florida. So please sign even if you’re not a Florida resident! We need all the support we can get!!

Welp, that’s the governor of the state I currently reside in. What a classy guy.
Florida Governor Rick Scott was basically elected because he outspent Alex Sink campaigned on creating 700,000 jobs in 7 years plus normal expected growth. Guess who’s going back on that promise now? Oh no, even though he never said that what he actually meant was that he would create 700,000 jobs and that’s it.
Lying to get elected? Now who would have ever thunk it from such an ethical Dark Lord man.
Florida: Welfare drug-testing yields 2% positive results | The Tampa Tribune
08/24/11—Since the state began testing welfare applicants for drugs in July, about 2 percent have tested positive, preliminary data shows.
Ninety-six percent proved to be drug free — leaving the state on the hook to reimburse the cost of their tests.
The initiative may save the state a few dollars anyway, bearing out one of Gov. Rick Scott’s arguments for implementing it. But the low test fail-rate undercuts another of his arguments: that people on welfare are more likely to use drugs.
At Scott’s urging, the Legislature implemented the new requirement earlier this year that applicants for temporary cash assistance pass a drug test before collecting any benefits.
The law, which took effect July 1, requires applicants to pay for their own drug tests. Those who test drug-free are reimbursed by the state, and those who fail cannot receive benefits for a year. +

YES. And I AM GOING.
I am so excited about this.
Everyone in the Orlando area should come to this.
Seriously. October 28th. 7 PM. Rollins College.
Be there or be square. Or be there and be square. I don’t care. Just go if you can. It’s free!
Also the Guerrilla Girls will be there the next night. I am also going to that and I am super excited.
Rick Scott’s wife does! How did that happen? Oh, Rick Scott transferred ownership of all of that to her before he got to be governor. Convenient, huh? You know, wouldn’t want to have a conflict of interest or anything while you’re trying to suck 50 bucks a pop out of poor people seeking benefits. Nothing conflicty or odd about that, right?
And hey, if there does seem to be something fishy about it, just plead the fifth a record number of times. It’s cool, Florida likes it’s politicians crooked.
Rick Scott, is this how we “get to work”?
